Across Greater Manchester, rates of overweight children are on the rise. And figures have been steadily going up over the last 30 years. The NHS has launched its campaign to understand the rise of childhood obesity in Greater Manchester and needs the help of VCSE organisations to do so.

Learning and Professional Development Opportunities


As part of our Workforce Development Programme, we are creating some exciting new opportunities for learning and professional development, designed specifically for people in Greater Manchester’s VCSE sector. From January-June 2024, we will be offering a range of flexible leadership learning workshops, as well as the option of more intensive development activities for both leaders and emerging leaders.

GM VCSE Infrastructure Development Programme: Autumn Update 2023

The Greater Manchester VCSE Infrastructure Development Programme is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aiming to improve infrastructure support for community activity. The programme runs until March 2025 and is delivered by Local Infrastructure Organisations across Greater Manchester. It focuses on priority areas such as Membership Models and Promotion, Website and Information Strategies, Social Enterprise and Social Investment, Voice and Influence, and Training and Development.

The Autumn Update covers updates since July 2023 and plans for the next three months.

With its diverse range of organisations, from charities and social enterprises to community groups and community interest companies, the VCSE sector addresses various societal issues. It provides essential services to people in need. However, the sector faces several significant challenges when it comes to commissioning in Greater Manchester.

We are local infrastructure organisations operating strategically and collaboratively; our shared purpose is to champion local voluntary and community action and social enterprise across the city-region in order to improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of Greater Manchester’s people and communities.
